Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before installing Saga Streaming.
Which devices does Saga Streaming support?
Any Android TV device running Android 10 (API 29) or newer. This includes NVIDIA Shield, Chromecast with Google TV (HD and 4K), Mi Box S, Fire TV Stick (4K and 4K Max), and most generic Android TV boxes. Devices with 1 GB of RAM will automatically use the Minimal performance tier.
Is Saga Streaming on the Google Play Store?
Not yet. We are working on it. Until then, you can install the APK directly from our download page. The installation takes about a minute and the app behaves identically to a Play Store version.
How do I install it?
Install the Downloader app (by AFTVnews) from the Google Play Store on your TV, open it, and enter the code 384721. Downloader will fetch the APK and install it. The whole process takes under a minute.
Do I need an account?
No. Saga Streaming works entirely without accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no tracking. If you want to sync your watch history across devices, you can optionally connect your own Floppy server.
Where do the streams come from?
Saga Streaming itself does not host or provide any content. It queries plugins that you install. You are responsible for the plugins you add and for the content you access through them.
Which plugins work?
Any plugin that exposes a compatible stream endpoint. Stremio-compatible add-ons are supported. You install them by pasting the base URL in Settings → Plugins.
What is Floppy?
Floppy is our watch history service. Create a free account, connect Saga Streaming to it, and your watch history syncs automatically across every device you install the app on. Movies and TV episodes are both tracked. The connection is optional. If you prefer to keep everything local, just skip this step.
Do I need OpenSubtitles?
Only if you want external subtitles. Saga Streaming has built-in support for embedded subtitle tracks in the stream itself. For external subtitles, you need an OpenSubtitles API key (free), and a username and password. These are stored encrypted on your device.
How accurate is subtitle sync?
Saga Streaming lets you nudge the subtitle offset in steps of 0.1 second. For older films with PAL↔NTSC timing issues, there is a one-click framerate correction. Combined with the manual offset, this covers almost every case without having to re-download the subtitle.
Can I change the performance tier?
Yes. Settings → Display lets you choose between Automatic, High, Balanced, Lite, and Minimal. The change takes effect immediately.
Does it work on phones or tablets?
Not today. Saga Streaming is designed specifically for Android TV and the remote. A phone interface would force us to compromise the TV experience, which is the one thing we are not willing to do. Other platforms may come later.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Send an email to contact@sagastreaming.com. Please include your device model, the app version, and what you were doing when the issue occurred.
